The last handling on this statue was to hammer hard on the clay  this particularly  skullcap form appeared. The image bent deeper with each stroke. A beautiful parallel with the Catholic Church who is dealing with sexual abuse scandals , which they just could no longer deny. Every stroke the question again:  do I have to bite more dust?

The skullcap is like a meteorite, with on the fault line a crown of thorns. For me, that crown symbolizes the struggle that man has with scientific knowledge.
